Wecome to the British Politics Group

We are a nonpartisan organization devoted to advancing knowledge about British politics. The BPG was founded in 1975 to encourage the study of British politics in North America. Its has more than 200 members, of whom most are political scientists in the United States, United Kingdom, and other countries. Many of the leading scholars of British politics worldwide are members. Each year we sponsor several panels at the American Political Science Association. the world's largest political science meeting. This year we're holding our second special one-day conference in Washington on the Wednesday prior to the APSA Meeting (Sep 1, 2010).

BPG Panels at APSA 2010, Sep 2-5
As an APSA Related Group we have four panels at the APSA Annual Meeting in Washington DC

List of panels, papers, and participants.

We also publish a quarterly newsletter, maintain an electronic Listserve, and compile an annual bibliography of books on British politics published in the UK.

We sponsor three scholarly awards: The Samuel H. Beer Prize for the Best Ph.D. Dissertation on British Politics by a North American scholar, the Stokes Dissertation Fellowship which helps finance research, and tThe James B. Christoph Prize for the Best Paper on British Politics by a junior faculty member.
